It is important that people check their hearing from time to time,especially those who are at a higher risk of hearing loss such asadults above 50 years, those working in noisy places, thoselistening to music at high volumes for long periods of time andthose experiencing ear problems. The hearWHOpro app is aneasy-to-use application that can be used by health workers to checkthe hearing of people in their communities. It is based on avalidated digits-in-noise technology. The app allows health workersto check and record people’s hearing scores. The scores can beshared with the individuals or their doctors. Those with low scoreshave to be referred for a proper hearing testing. If hearing lossis identified, the person should be referred to a specialist.Identifying and addressing hearing loss early is essential toensure that people do not suffer its adverse impact.
